Stream by Mosaic

The Challenge

Mosaic served investment analysts and fund managers with customized qualitative research. But their delivery was manual — PDFs, emails, and phone calls. They needed a SAAS platform that would give clients continuous, on-demand access to research content while keeping everything compliant with financial regulations.

The platform had to serve multiple user types: analysts consuming research, content producers creating it, and internal staff managing the pipeline. Each workflow had different needs, and all had to work together seamlessly.

The Solution

We designed and built Stream as three interconnected systems:

• Content production pipeline — tools for research analysts to create, review, and publish content using structured workflows that enforce compliance at every step
• Internal CMS — a staff-facing dashboard for managing the content lifecycle, user permissions, and platform analytics
• User-facing platform — a clean, fast interface for hedge fund analysts to discover, consume, and organize research content

The tech stack was chosen for reliability at scale: React and Django power the interfaces, with the entire platform hosted on AWS behind an elastic load balancer, orchestrated with Kubernetes.

The Results

Stream launched in 2020 and quickly became central to Mosaic's business. The platform's success caught the attention of AlphaSense, who acquired Stream to integrate its research capabilities into their intelligence platform.

Productera's team managed the technical side of the transition — migrating infrastructure, ensuring zero downtime, and scaling the platform to serve AlphaSense's much larger user base. We continued as the core engineering team, scaling from hundreds to thousands of active users.

The partnership with Mosaic and then AlphaSense spans over three years of continuous development, making it one of our longest and most successful engagements.
